SINGAPOREâThe leading independent Filipino broadcaster TV5, part of the MediaQuest group of companies, has implemented a comprehensive broadcast system based on Imagine Communications’ Versio integrated broadcast platform and ADC automation system.
The fully integrated and automated architecture helps TV5 streamline its primary control workflows, improve operational efficiency, and grow easily as its business grows, the companies said.
âWe chose the Imagine Communications solution because of its flexibility and scalability and because it easily integrates with our existing technology,â said Ronaldo A. Hernandez, head of network engineering at TV5. âIn addition, the graphical user interface is completely intuitive, bringing simplicity of operations and allowing our teams to be up and running very quickly. The new system offers increased efficiency and reliability that allows us to build on our existing workflows without affecting our day-to-day operations and ensures that we deliver the engaging content that our viewers demand.
Hernandez added that âwe are happy with Versio Graphics, which simplifies the graphic design process and allows us to support logo, realtime animation, video or audio clip, text search engine, dynamic brand (now, next and later) and DVEs. The two SDI inputs allow the broadcast to switch the two live streams back to back seamlessly. Additionally, the multiple outputs can be configured on Versio to serve different purposes, whether the output is for the main brand, clean, preset, + brand, or simulcast program.
The new system offers a scalable and flexible broadcast solution for the two flagship channels, TV5 and One News, as well as additional channel support and comprehensive media management. The primary control system includes shared storage built on Imagine’s Versio IOX platform, which in turn integrates with the broadcaster’s legacy NAS storage and archiving network, ensuring easy access to all stored content. , the companies reported.
Playout uses Imagine’s software-defined Versio solution configured as full 2 ââ+ 2 redundancy for the main channels and as a 3 + 1 broadcast network to support other broadcaster operations, including separate streams for the digital terrestrial ISDB output. Imagine’s ADC automation provides system-level control, asset movement management, and accurate readout. An intuitive graphical user interface makes it even easier to use, while providing a high level of channel security with alarms and logs to the system, Imagine said.
The installation of the MCR is completed by the Platinum IP3 router from Imagine. In addition to switching all plant signals, under both automatic and manual control, the router includes built-in multi-viewer functionality, which allows operators to create surveillance configurations to meet their exact needs. Since multiviewers are an integral part of the router, this has enabled TV5 to simplify installation, reduce cabling and rack requirements, and minimize power consumption.
âTV5 is typical of a broadcaster who needs to bridge the gap between legacy technology and a software-centric future,â said Mathias Eckert, senior vice president and general manager of APAC and EMEA at Imagine Communications. âThe powerful combination of Versio and ADC provides TV5 with a secure, flexible and dynamic streaming solution that can meet their current and future needs and we look forward to supporting TV5 in its continued growth and development. “
The system design was developed by Imagine Communications and TV5 and was installed in the Mandaluyong Broadcast Center by Imagine’s partner and system integrator, Composite Technology, Inc.
