SUN Life Philippines has partnered with Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) to bring financial literacy advocacy to co-ops across the country.

This will be done as part of Smart Co-ops, the telecommunications leader’s digital literacy program that aims to empower co-ops to communicate digitally, market products online, negotiate through e-commerce and ” engage with consumers in the new normal.

Sun Life will complement these lessons with financial wellness seminars where participants will learn how they can effectively manage their assets.

“During the pandemic, financial security and mobile technology became more relevant than ever, as they gave Filipinos a sense of security amid all the challenges. Our collaboration will enable Filipino co-ops to provide them with the best that our two companies can offer, “said Benedict Sison, Country Manager and CEO of Sun Life Philippines.

“Co-operatives are an important part of our economy and, like other institutions, they have also been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. We are teaming up with institutions like Sun Life, which share the same desire to help co-ops. It’s also to help Smart reach more co-ops through its existing co-op partners, ”said Melvin Nubla, senior vice president and group leader of Smart Go-To-Market and Subscriber Management.

This collaboration with Smart is part of Sun Life’s efforts to empower Filipinos to pursue their financial goals even amid the challenges of the pandemic. The company runs free financial literacy webinars and workshops on an ongoing basis, covering topics such as financial planning, management, investing and entrepreneurship.
