LONDON, UK, December 17, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ – Dr Smart Money and Warminster School have teamed up for an exciting new financial education program.

The one-year project is part of Warminster School’s EDGE program which started in September 2021. The EDGE program involves teaching students in grade 9 and above basic life skills and preparing them for the world beyond school, which can often be lacking in normal school curricula. The new initiative includes different life skills sessions such as Netiquette, household crafts, cooking and first aid. Dr Smart Money plays a role in joining the EDGE program by offering financial literacy sessions to students.

Financial Literacy Sessions with Dr Smart Money kicked off on September 8, 2021 with Grade 10 students at Warminster School and the impact on the student so far is clear.

Grade 10 student Niamh commented, “I really enjoyed the class. I benefited the most from the mindset discussion. to become. I learned more about money and how we should save, earn, spend, give and invest. “

Kat Maclaren, a design technology teacher at Warminster, agrees: “The Dr SmartMoney program offers a different perspective of learning about money, which students easily engage with during their EDGE sessions. The tutorials draw on people’s real-life experiences and allow students to envision their own futures with money. I learned new things too! “

The Dr Smart Money Financial Literacy Sessions hosted by founder Harry Hakuei Kosato first introduce students to the concept of money, finance and how to start thinking about their future. It also involves different guest speakers who come each week with their own “My Money Story”, which students can listen to to gain insight into how people work with their personal finances. Founder Harry also shares his experience as a side entrepreneur, talking about the importance of having multiple sources of income. Hearing money stories from people of different backgrounds helps them think about their future and also think about starting their own “money journey” early on.

In weeks 2 and 3, Dr Smart Money collaborates with Alex Kim, a young investor currently based in Singapore who started his investment journey at the age of 15 and has grown his portfolio by 6000% in about 14 years . Alex talks about his investing experience and shares his knowledge to get students to think about investing on their own. Alex is enthusiastic about raising awareness of investing and boosting the investment journey of young students. Students engage in an exciting portfolio simulation exercise where they can gain experience in trading, while also gaining guidance from the brain itself.

Alex Kim said: “I wish I had something like this when I was younger, it is important to build a solid financial foundation and adopt a long term mindset early on in order to prepare them for the success later in life. “

During the 4th week, Dr Smart Money collaborates with Lesley Thomas, The Money Mastery Business Coach â„¢, who through his own work with women entrepreneurs brings significant experience to understand the direct link between the relationship with money and our sense of self-worth and self-esteem. Lesley is a strong advocate for developing children’s financial literacy as early as possible and in doing so positively impacting their sense of self worth and worth. During her 4-week program module, Lesley will focus on the importance of a good mindset for money in creating a positive framework for the development of our personal history of money and how, by owning it, we empower ourselves now and in the future.

Grade 10 students benefit from 4 weeks of sessions for each group, where they will alternate to different EDGE courses throughout the year. As part of the EDGE program, the financial literacy sessions with Dr Smart Money also take place on a 4 week cycle.
