Nigeria to achieve 95% digital literacy by 2030 – NITDA boss Kashiffu

The National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, has set an ambitious target for Nigeria to achieve 95% digital literacy by 2030.

Speaking at the end of a three-day Marathon workshop on digital journalism co-organized by PRNigeria, the Penlight Center for Investigative Journalism, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy and the National Technology Development Agency information, the agency’s chief executive, Mallam Kashiffu Inuwa Abdullahi, said they saw cybersecurity as one of the pillars of NITDA’s strategic roadmap.

Kashiffu noted that: “Cyber ​​security is more about social reengineering, which is why NITDA is doing three things, a lot of outreach, so people know the dos and don’ts of social media that will help them protect. their own confidential information. information.

Likewise, the CEO added that: “We have an Emergency Computer and Emergency Response Unit call center and it operates 24/7 to ensure that we proactively protect the nation’s digital space.

“Right now we have private organizations and individuals whose data and information we are protecting, because we have people trying to find out what’s going on in Deep Wave and Dark Wave, which is why we are actively protecting them. Nigerians “.

The NITDA boss then said he had a standby team to help people easily restore services if their systems were compromised.

According to him, digital journalism is one of the two pillars that you “digital literacy or digital transformation” because digital journalism is about information and digital literacy is also about information and knowledge.

“So digital journalism is what will help us filter out bad knowledge, bad and fake news, and communicate, spread good and progressive information, which is why we give it a high priority, and that is why this type of workshop is very timely.
