The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) says it remains committed to financial literacy and inclusion as it remains a top priority for capital market stakeholders.
NGX CEO Temi Popoola said this during the digital gong closing ceremony to commemorate Global Investor Week 2021, promoted by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) on Friday.
Popoola noted that the NGX is a member of IOSCO as well as the World Trade Federation (WEF); is very passionate about financial literacy. He said financial literacy and inclusion remain top priorities for capital market stakeholders and the exchange makes it a priority to contribute its quota to achieving key goals of the national financial inclusion strategy. Nigeria through initiatives that encourage the general public to develop investment habits. .
He said: âThrough initiatives such as supporting the development of innovative inclusive financial products such as the FGN Savings Bond, product-specific trainings and workshops delivered by X-Academy, the commemoration of Global Money Week, Excursions to the exchange As part of our X-Tours and the annual NGX National Essay Competition, the exchange has played a leading role in advancing financial literacy in Nigeria â.
According to Popoola, the NGX recognizes the potential of technology to deepen financial inclusion by enabling people in the most remote places to access financial services.
In addition, the CEO of NGX revealed that the exchange has implemented a number of activities to commemorate Global Investor Week.
