McLean County Fair Appoints New Agricultural Literacy Coordinator
BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Fair has announced that Carrie Vogel will be the Agricultural Literacy Coordinator for the McLean County Ag in the Classroom program.
“Carrie brings a lot of experience and knowledge in communicating about agriculture to a variety of audiences. We look forward to working with her and continuing the success of our local Ag in the Classroom program, ”said Carly Rickard, McLean County Fair Board Member and McLean County Ag Education Committee Co-Chair.
Vogel holds a degree in Agricultural Communication from the University of Illinois and has worked as an agricultural radio host and preschool teacher.
“I look forward to connecting teachers with resources that will help them teach their students the importance and impact of agriculture in our county,” said Vogel. “I am excited to bring hands-on learning about food and agriculture to the classrooms of Bloomington-Normal and surrounding communities.
McLean County Ag in the Classroom reaches over 9,000 K-12 students through public, private and home-based programs in McLean County. The program provides free resources to local schools and teachers to help students learn about food and agriculture, the science and technology needed to grow crops and raise livestock in the wide variety of careers available in agriculture.
