MANDALIKA, Indonesia, October 11, 2021 / PRNewswire / – The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics will organize a Digital Literacy Week in Mandalika, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. Through the event, the government aims to educate millennials on how to fight hoaxes and develop digital marketing skills for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by following current trends.

Looking at young people and small and medium entrepreneurs in central Lombok, west of Nusa Tenggara, the event will take place in a hybrid format on 12-13 October 2021, targeting up to 75 on-site participants and 50,000 online viewers.

Mandalika Digital Literacy Week is designed to unleash the potential of millennials and MSMEs through digital training and education from renowned experts, such as Nicolas Saputra, Iwan Setiawan, and Donny BU, an expert from the Ministry of Communications and Informatics.

“We aim to help people, millennials and young entrepreneurs learn digital technology, as well as use the internet efficiently, safely and most importantly, ethically,” said Rizky Ameliah, Literacy Coordinator digital to the ministry.

There are over 200 million people in Indonesia who actively use internet platforms to maintain their social interactions and also to stay productive while staying at home due to social and economic restrictions. “However, digital technology also has a negative impact when used to circulate hoaxes, intimidation, radicalism and even terrorism. That is why we need equality in digital culture so that people can use it wisely, ”Rizky added.

Increase productivity with creative content

Entitled “Digital Literacy Talk (Pekan Literasi Digital) “, the day one event will invite digital experts from the ministry to be the speakers. The discussion will focus on how people can identify hoaxes based on their type, motive, impact, and how to return them ethically to stop the spread.

In the second session of the Day 1 event titled ‘Knowledge Sharing: How to Maximize Profit with Digital Content (Gali Ilmu: Kelas Dasar Jualan Online / Hujan Cuan di Era Digital) ”, Participants will acquire basic knowledge on digital marketing for MSMEs. The session will include best practices for a successful marketplace business, as well as pricing, branding, and customer service strategies.

The second day is devoted to the revival of tourism in Mandalika. Well-known actor and ambassador of Gerakan Nasional Literasi Digital (GNLD) Siberkreasi, Nicolas Saputra, will share his knowledge of public speaking and photography tactics for creative content.

During the photoshoot, Nicholas will share his experiences and techniques for more creative shots. It started as a hobby and now Nicholas has grown in popularity as an Instagram photographer mainly in nature and landscape feeds with over 1.2 million followers.
