Discovery recently moved its global headquarters from Silver Spring, Maryland, to New York City. Located in one of Manhattan’s most vibrant and vibrant neighborhoods, the new headquarters is a creative, collaborative environment with an open floor plan and loft-style features. The facility includes a studio and production space on the ground floor, an outdoor rooftop terrace, a full-service wellness center, and a dedicated lobby. AV Innovative Design, a New York-based technology integrator, has been selected to support Discovery with technology integration at the new headquarters.
“We discovered this project with the aim of combining several projectors in the common areas of their new headquarters,” said Garett Widmaier, director of operations for AV Innovative Design. “We had limited space in the building and we were working with short throw projectors that were projected onto a glass wall. Once we had created a flat surface, we needed a solution for the edge blending. We were working with two projectors on each of the nine floors of the Discovery facility. Our goal was to blend the two projectors evenly and eliminate the line in the middle of the full-size image. we integrated Scalable display technologies as a solution for edge blending because we have had great success working with their advanced and reliable technology.
“When it comes to various design challenges and solutions, Scalable is always able to rise to the challenge and provide us with a professional and reliable solution. It also allowed us to identify the contours to achieve the design desired by our customers, ”said Chen Vanunu, partner of AV Innovative Design. “Scalable has a great team of talented people. They understand every detail of the projection and image geometry, which is important when working with this type of technology. Scalable’s in-house technicians supported us throughout the project.
Scalable’s software automatically distorts and mixes multiple projectors into a single transparent display. This allowed AV Innovative Design to create a reliable and long-term solution for its client. “The customer is delighted with the overall result,” said Vanunu. “We started this project on the first floor and they were happy that we were able to meet their expectations. They asked us to recreate the design on the remaining eight floors. This was an important project for Discovery, and it was imperative that we get it done right. “
